“The toughest topics are often the ones we most need to brave.” —Alyssa Charpentier

About Alyssa

I am Alyssa Charpentier, a dark fantasy and fiction author who is passionate about powerful stories and themes of light and darkness. Daughter Darkness (Book #1 in the Myrk Maiden Trilogy) was my first novel and is a recipient of Literary Titan’s Silver Award. Since the novel’s publication, I have continued developing my debut series, the Myrk Maiden Trilogy, and have had articles published in magazines and publications such as Film East, G-FAN, and Today’s Christian Living Magazine.

In addition to being an author, I am a U.S. Sailor, digital composer, and aspiring film and music journalist. When I am not creating, I am most likely thinking about doing so and ruminating endlessly about the themes and techniques in my favorite media.

Charp Facts:

  • I go by “Charpy” with editorial clients and readers, and my newsletter crew is called Club Charpy! (You can join at the bottom of this page!) “Charp Cheddar” is also an acceptable nickname.

  • I love Godzilla, rock 'n' roll, classic movies and literature, and stories that provoke my thinker to think!

  • I wrote my debut novel, Daughter Darkness, when I was 19, and I’ve been on a guns-blazing writing journey ever since!

  • I’m a friendly tax-paying citizen who enjoys sour gummies and birthday cake ice cream.

  • Pictures of bugs and spiders are my variation of "send me pictures of your dog." Follow me on Instagram; I want to see your eight-legged dog!
